SRINAGAR- Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal Monday visited India international Kashmir saffron trade centre, Dussu pampore to take stock of its functioning.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture expressed the satisfaction over the performance of IIKSTC over the period of last two years.
He said the lab at IIKSTC which the department uses on trial bases for the last two years have been able to process more than 3000 kgs of fresh saffron flowers from which more than 300 kgs of saffron was harvested.
He said that due to the GI tagging facility of saffron, our farmers have been able to market their produce on national and international marketing platforms.
He said the e-auctioning and GI tagging facility has helped our produce to reach global market like Dubai and other international destinations.
Director said that we are expecting much better results in the coming times. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that all the set parameters of quality are adhered to every time.
He said, “We have MoU with different global marketing platforms and in coming times we are expecting that our saffron will cover more marketing platforms on a global level.”
