Srinagar: Christmas was celebrated on Thursday in Kashmir with special prayers for world peace.
The biggest gathering in the Valley was held at the Holy Family Catholic Church at Moulana Azad Road in the Srinagar city, where scores of Christians including females and children assembled to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ and held special prayers.
The church was decorated with colorful buntings and balloons and wore a festive look.
Prayers were also held at Saint Lukes Church and All Saints Church in the city, Saint Josephs Church in north Kashmirs Baramulla, the oldest Catholic Church in Jammu and Kashmir and at the Church in the tourist resort of Gulmarg.
