Srinagar- An extensive snow clearance review meeting was conducted on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan here at Central Office SMC, Karan Nagar.
According to a statement, the SMC Commissioner held meetings with various senior Officers of the Corporation to review preparedness for snow clearance and dewatering exercise in the city in view of fresh snowfall.
He at the outset of the meeting passed on clear cut directions that there should be no impediment in the snow clearance program in the city.
“A strategic plan was made for deploying snow clearance vehicles/ tractors in all the wards during the course of the meeting,” the statement reads.
SMC Commissioner further said all these vehicles / tractors including other snow clearance machines should be in a complete state of readiness with its deployment at earliest in all the 74 electoral wards.
He directed the concern that there has to be quick and swift removal of snow from the main stretches from all the areas and roads leading to vital destinations including Hospitals, Ration Depots, Institutions and offices without any delay and not to wait for snow to accumulate.
During the meeting Athar passed on directions that the snow monitoring committee/ Snow clearance help line shall be active 24× 7 to ensure snow clearance from all the city lanes , worship places , Hospitals , Roads , important institutions etc by putting men and machinery on job so that no resident faces any inconvenience due to snow accumulation.
They shall be fully responsive to the public calls, grievances and complaints for quick redressal of the same.
He said the immediate priority is to ensure all roads leading to hospitals and religious places, including shrines and Gurdwaras, have to be cleared for hassle free movement of public and traffic in case of snow fall.
While taking review of dewatering exercise in the city he gave clear cut directions to the concerned to make fully functional 85 Permanent dewatering stations besides the services of all the mobile pumps shall be utilised / deputed to cater to water logging issues in different areas in the city.
