Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohi-ud-din on Monday submitted his nomination papers for the District Development Council (DDC) elections from north Kashmir’s Uri block.
According to reports, the two-time former minister filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Param Pera, Uri before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri on Monday.
Taj, who is probably the first former minister to contest district polls said that he doesn’t think he has done anything wrong.
“I decided to contest the elections and serve people. I don’t think it is humiliating for me to contest these DDC elections,” he said
“I submitted the nomination form just to serve the people who are roaming from pillar to post to get their grievances addressed. People are suffering immensely in absence of elected representatives,” he added.
Pertinently, Taj has served as cabinet minister during his party’s alliance with National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to form government in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
