
Srinagar- Colleges in the Kashmir Valley are set to resume academic activities on Saturday after a 50-day winter vacation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department announced the winter break on December 20, 2024, for degree colleges in the winter zones of the Kashmir division. According to the official notification, degree colleges in the Kashmir division and those in the winter zone of the Jammu division observed winter vacations from December 27, 2024, to February 14, 2025.
Additionally, the government had declared a winter break for colleges in the summer zones of the Jammu region from January 1 to January 10, 2025.
Meanwhile, more than 2 lakh students of the 10th and 12th standards are set to appear in the annual regular board exams starting tomorrow.
Schools in the Kashmir division and the winter zones of the Jammu division will reopen on March 1. According to the School Education Department, winter vacations were scheduled in phases: for students up to the 5th standard, from December 10 to February 28, 2025, and for students from the 6th to the 12th standard, from December 16 to February 28, 2025.
Furthermore, the department had directed that teaching staff of Government High and Higher Secondary Schools remain available at their respective headquarters from February 10, 2025, onwards to prepare for the upcoming board examinations for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th. (KNO)
