Srinagar- The Indian Army Thursday confirmed that the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir remains intact and continues to be observed as per the mutual understanding with the Pakistan Army.
“While tensions have arisen due to stray incidents of cross-LoC firing and a suspected IED blast targeting an Indian patrol, these are being addressed through the established mechanism,” the Army said.
Clarifying that no recent exchange of heavy-calibre weapon fire has occurred along the LoC, the Army said that minor incidents are not unprecedented.
“Concerns have been raised with the Pakistan Army at the appropriate level,” the Army said, adding that the situation remains stable and under close monitoring, with the Indian Army maintaining a high state of alertness and dominating the LoC.
Since the reaffirmation of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in February 2021, the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir has experienced a significant reduction in hostilities.
According to official reports only three minor incidents of ceasefire violations were recorded along the LoC after the agreement.
Overall, the situation along the LoC has remained relatively stable, with only minor incidents reported since the 2021 agreement.
