
Srinagar- The High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Monday issued new rules for breaking tie situations in the selection process for direct category posts, both Gazetted and Non-Gazetted.
According to an order, the candidate older in age shall be selected/appointed if there is tie in the selection made on the basis of written test.
Similar approach shall be adopted where only mode of selection is interview and in case of a tie, the candidate older in age shall be selected/appointed, Shahzad Azeem, Registrar General of the court said in an order consequent upon the recommendations of the Committee for Appointment and Promotion of Officials/Officers of the High Court Staff, duly approved by the Chief Justice.
“Where the mode of selection is written examination as also the viva-voce/interview and there is tie in the aggregate marks of both written and interview, the candidate having secured higher marks in the written test, shall have the right to be selected/appointed,” the order reads.
Where the selection is by way of written and viva voce/interview and two or more candidates have same marks in both the written examination as well as in the interview, the candidate having higher marks in the basic educational qualification prescribed for the post, shall have the right to be selected/appointed, the order added.
