
New Delhi- Providing timely promotion to the employees is an area of top priority for Northern Railway. Timely promotion also protects the aspirations of the employee and organizational interests. Promotion also increases the social prestige, financial benefits and retirement benefits of the employees.
Under the guidance of Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager, Northern Railway and the leadership of Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Northern Railway, during the year 2024, out of total strength of 1.16 lakh employees, a total of 19,572 employees were selected and promoted with the help of Selection Calendar Monitoring System. This is almost 16.87% of the total strength.
Northern Railway is the first zone in the country in which the promotion process is started in advance through the Selection Calendar Monitoring system. All divisions and workshops have been instructed to prepare the selection list/panel in advance so that when an employee retires, the next eligible employee can be promoted on the same day.
Northern Railway Head Office has prepared a selection calendar for monitoring the promotion of employees. It includes all the divisional units of Northern Railway and all categories so that no selection/suitability and trade test can be missed. It is updated on a weekly basis and is reviewed weekly by the Principal Chief Personnel Officer.
During the year 2024, Delhi Division selected and promoted 6008 employees, Moradabad Division 3403, Firozpur Division 2866, Lucknow Division 2113, Ambala Division 2011 and other units/workshops of NR selected and promoted 3171 employees.
