ANTF Arrests Drug Peddler In Srinagar

Srinagar- The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of police on Monday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle heroin worth lakhs by arresting an alleged drug peddler in this capital city.

The ANTF, a specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, on a specific
information regarding smuggling of drugs by a peddler namely Ab. Qayoom resident of Sultan Daki, Uri in a Vehicle (EON) bearing registration number JK01S-1701, a team of ANTF apprehended the said person from Sonawar near GP Panth Hospital, Srinagar, a police spokesperson said Monday.

During his personal search, he said, 200 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from his possession.

“He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” the spokesperson said.

Accordingly, he said, a case FIR No. 17/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station CBK and investigation has been initiated and more arrests are expected.
