Health centre under construction for last 8 yrs
Budgam- The Jammu &Kashmir RTI Movement has demanded that a Medical Officer be posted at New Type Primary Health Center (NT-PHC) at Chalyan village in Chararsharief. In a statement Chairman RTI Movement said that a delegation of activists visited the area on Saturday and found that NT-PHC was operating from two dilapidated rooms while a new building has been under construction for the last 8 years.
“ I was told by locals that no medical officer is available at the local new type PHC which was created as an allopathic dispensary (AD) in 1969. Technically two doctors are posted in NT-PHC's which get upgraded from AD. The contractor has abandoned work on the new PHC building as the Govt is not releasing funds to him. People suffer a lot as they are deprived of basic health services. The Chief Medical Officer told me there is no post of medical officer at Chalyan PHC , but this is unfair. I appeal Director Health and CMO Budgam to send a medical doctor to Chalyan at least for 3 days a week until full fledged post of medical officer is sanctioned for this center” said Dr Raja Muzaffar
“ For simple medical emergencies people have to visit Charar Sharief which is 20 kms away from Chalyan. Local residents are poor and they can’t be deprived of an MBBS doctor when Govt has appointed 1000 new medical officers only last year “ he added
