SRINAGAR- Jammu & Kashmir team won both junior and senior men’s gold in the first ever National Curling Championship cum National Camp 2022 which concluded at Gulmarg on Wednesday.
Women’s gold medals, both junior and senior were won by Andhra Pradesh women’s team. Team from Uttarakhand, Telengana, Karnataka, MP and Haryana also won silver and bronze medals under various categories.
Curling Federation of India, the National Governing body for the sport of Curling had organised this camp cum Championship in association with J&K Curling Association and JKTDC. The event was sponsored by likes of Religare Group, a financial conglomerate, Hamdard Group, amongst others.
The Championship was attended by more than 250 athletes from 20 state teams, who enthusiastically participated in the games. Talking to media at the closing ceremony, Dr Rashmi Saluja, President of Curling Federation of India (CFI) thanked J&K Tourism, J&K Government, Indian Olympic Association, Curling Federation, Sponsors including Religare & Hamdard and all other state federations for their contribution and support towards making Gulmarg games as success. She specially mentioned that collaboration and support from JKTDC was very crucial at every stage in successfully conducting the games.
Yogeshwar Dutt, Olympian & world-renowned wrestler said that he is thankful to Dr. Rashmi Saluja for inviting him for this event. He congratulated all the medal winners and participants of the tournament. (KNT)
