Defeat Kashmir Avengers 2-1, retain Premier Division title

SRINAGAR: The J&K Bank XI was on Wednesday crowned the JKFA Premier Division League 2021 champions after they defeated Kashmir Avengers FC 2-1 in the final match played at Synthetic Turf, TRC here.
Pitted against the underdogs, the seasoned campaigners of J&K Bank trailed 1-0 at half time, before scoring 2 goals in the second half of the match.
The high-flying Avengers took the lead in the 8th minute through Kelvin. The team held their nerves and defended with prowess to thwart J&K Bank attackers. KAFC’s goalkeeper made a few diving saves to keep his team’s lead intact.
J&K Bank, however, came into the second half all guns blazing and brought the game on level terms through Akif Reshi. The talismanic striker then scored another in the 60th minute to give his team the 2-1 lead.
The Avengers tried to get back in the game but J&K Bank players used all their experience to see out the game till final whistle. Akif was named man of the match for his match-winning performance.
An awards ceremony was held after the match in which Nuzhat Gul, Divisional Sports Officer (Kashmir) JKSC distributed prizes and mementoes among players and officials. The officials of JKFA and JKSC were also present on the occasion.
“JKFA is highly indebted to JKSC for providing facilities and other logistic support for the tournament,” the Association said in a press release.
The tournament was organized by DFA Srinagar in collaboration with JKSC.
