SRINAGAR: J&K Bank XI on Tuesday won the 1st Edition Positive Kashmir KO Football Tournament by defeating J&K Power Development Corporation (PDC) XI 5-2 in the final played at Synthetic Turf TRC here.
The first half turned out to be an exciting end-to-end affair as Hayat gave PDC XI a shock lead in just the 5th minute of the match. Bank XI soon responded through a goal by Adnan in the 10th minute. Ten minutes later, PDC XI took a 2-1 lead thanks to a fine goal by Immad. The Bank team scored the equalising goal through Aakif to end the first half level at 2-2.
However, in the second half of the match Bank XI blew PDC XI away by scoring 3 goals. Bank’s talismanic striker Aakif gave his team a 3-2 lead in the 55th minute, scoring his second goal of the match. Faisal scored the fourth goal for Bank XI in the 65th, while Prem scored the last of the 5 goals in the 75th minute. The 5-2 full time score was what many anticipated.
“Divisional Commissioner PK Pole was the chief guest on the occasion, and distributed prizes and mementoes to the players and officials. It is pertinent to mention here that a cash prize of Rs 50,000 were given to the runner-up team and Rs 1 lakh to the winners team, besides trophies and mementos. The officials of JKFA and Positive Kashmir NGO were also present on the occasion,” the JKFA said in a statement.
