SRINAGAR: The JKFA Professional League 2021 resumed after Eid-ul-Adha holidays with two matches played on Saturday at the Synthetic Turf Ground, TRC in Srinagar.
The first match of the day, a 3:00 pm kick off, was played between J&K Bank XI & Downtown Heroes FC.
“Both the teams entered the field with high hopes and were aggressive from the very start, trying to find the net. They exhibited quality play and got appreciation from the crowd. The first half was full of attacks and counter attacks but neither team was able to score and the first half ended goalless,” the JKFA said in a statement.
“The second half again started on a brisk note with both teams trying their best to take the lead. Man to man marking, perfect ball control were the main features of the match. The high voltage match saw many ups and downs and both the teams tried to make full use of the opportunities they got to score but could not succeed in finding the net. However the J&K Bank in the 88th minute made a drastic move and scored a brilliant goal courtesy Prem Kumar. The spectators cherished every moment of the game as J&K Bank XI defeated Downtown Heroes FC by a solitary goal,” the JKFA statement said.
Bank’s Prem Kumar was declared Man of the Match.
The second match was played between Sports Council Football Academy (SCFA) XI and Kashmir Avengers FC.
“The SCFA boys presented a good show in the beginning but could not withstand the pressure exerted by the Avengers. It was in the 20th minute Kashmir Avengers scored a goal via a mistake by the SCFA goalkeeper. In the 22nd minute the Avengers doubled their lead through Kelvin. In 35th minute Pathan tripled the Avengers’ lead,” the JKFA statement added.
“After the break, Amir and Ishfaq scored two more goals in the 65th and 70th minute of the match. The match ended in favour of Kashmir Avengers as they defeated SCFA XI by 5 goals to nil,” the statement said.
Ishfaq Ahmad of Kashmir Avengers FC was declared as Man of the Match.
Dr. Aijaz Ashai, a renowned physiotherapist of Kashmir Valley was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Two matches will be played on Monday, 26th July. The first match will be played between Shaheen FC Jammu & SCFA XI at 3:00 pm while the second match will see Kashmir Avengers FC and Real Kashmir FC go head to head at 5:00 pm.
The Tournament is organized by J&K Football Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
