2 Soldiers, 2 Militants Killed In Rajouri Firefight

Jammu- Two militants and as many as soldiers were killed while an army personal was injured in an encounter near the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri, official sources said on Thursday.

They said that there was an encounter between infiltrating militants and army in the Sunderbani sector in the district in which two unidentified militants and as many soldiers were killed while one trooper was injured. One of the slain soldiers has been identified as Sepoy Yashwant Reddy of 17 Madras, the official sources said, according to news agency GNS.

While a Defence Ministry spokesman based in Jammu could not be contacted for comments despite repeated attempts, the army in a tweet said: “Infiltration bid foiled in Sundarbani Sector. Further operations in progress.”

Today’s encounter comes a day after the army said that an unidentified militant was killed in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri.

As per sources, two soldiers were also injured in the gunfight in Nowshera.
