Div Com reviews annual Amarnath Yatra-2021 preparations

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday ordered fool-proof security arrangements during the annual Amarnath Yatra, including aerial surveillance through drones, night dominations besides installations of CCTVs in all areas during the pilgrimage period.

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole on Wednesday chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of security arrangements to be put in place for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra and directed concerned to ensure fool-proof security arrangements including aerial surveillance through drones, night dominations, installations of CCTVs in all areas is held during the Yatra period, an official spokesperson said.

During the meeting, he said, Pole impressed upon acting on all directions on the ground in letter and spirit to ensure all arrangements are made available at all places for hassle-free conduct of the yatra.

“During the meeting deficiencies faced during Yatra- 2019 were discussed threadbare and on spot directions were given to the concerned to ensure better facilities are made available in advance during the current year,” he added.

He further added that the Div Com emphasized on providing better mobile network, PF Hut accommodation, toilet facilities, health-care, LED lights, effective PAS system, parking facilities, pre-paid services, registration centers and better accommodation arrangements to yatris at all camps.

As per the official spokesperson, Pole directed concerned to ensure permanent toilet facilities are created enroute from Shaitani Nallah and at all designated points and road repairing and widening is completed well before the commencement of annual pilgrimage.

“He said that teams of doctors with basic medical facilities shall remain available for pilgrims at all camp sites while as teams of NDRF and SDRF shall also be kept stationed at all landslide prone areas for rescue if any exigency like situation arises during yatra period,” he said, adding “The Div Com instructed concerned to ensure the permanent toilet facility works are taken up on priority under the Swacch Bharat Mission,”

For smooth to and fro travel, the official spokesperson said that the facility of helicopter service from Srinagar Airport to Baltal were also discussed during the meeting.

“Besides the Div Com also stressed on safe regulation of convoys, tagging of vehicles, addressing space issues and advanced asset creation is done to ensure better facilities are made available to yatris,” he added.

The meeting, among others was attended by IG CRPF, DC Srinagar, DIGs CRPF Operation, South and North Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, SSP Srinagar, CE R&B, CE PDD and other concerned officers. While as DC Ganderbal, DC Anantnag, concerned SSPs and other concerned from SASB also attended the meeting through videoconferencing.
