Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir police will get advanced bullet proof vehices and protection gear to carry out anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh said Monday.
Speaking at the District Police lines here on Monday, the DGP said that protection jackets and helmets with higher level of protection would also be made available to increase the safety and capability of J&K personnel fighting against militancy. He said that BP vehicles with additional features would also be provided to increase the efficiency of personnel on the anti-militancy front.
The DGP, according to a police spokesperson made these remarks while seeking reports from the field officers and personnel with regards to the safety gears and other requirements.
As per police spokesperson, Singh also said that shields already issued in Kashmir valley would also be provided to the personnel in Jammu zone.
Taking a dig at Pakistan, the DGP said that the neighbouring country was repeating its evil attempts very often to create disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir.
Complimenting the state forces for clean and successful operation at Ban toll Plaza, Singh,as per police spokesperson said that the response to the militant activity was very quick and adequate and added that different forces on ground exhibited a great spirit, and mutual coordination.
“He said that with the collective efforts and good understanding between Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies a cross-border tunnel had been detected in Samba district. He said that our mutual efforts will continue to foil these attempts with fortitude,” the police spokesperson said.
On this occasion, Singh also rewarded the officers and the Jawans who took part in the operation at Ban Toll Plaza. IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, DIG, JSK Range, Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu, Sharidhar Patil, Commandant 160 BN CRPF, K.D Joshi, SP operation Naresh Singh and other senior officers of Jammu District were present on the occasion.
