Srinagar- Two militants were on Saturday killed in an encounter with state forces in Chingam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said.
State forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chingam area of Kulgam late Friday night following specific inputs about the presence of militants there, a police officer said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon a state forces party, who retaliated.
In the exchange of fire, two militants have been killed so far, the officer said, adding the operation is going on.
The identity and group affiliation of slain militants is being ascertained, he said.
