KARGIL: Tai Suru in Kargil hosted ‘Poshan Mela’ with display of local food by the Child Development Project Office, Kargil Ladakh. The Mela was part of Poshan Abhiyaan 2020.
The Poshan Mela was organised following the Covid Protocol, using sanitizers, thermal scanners and masks. The Mela was inaugurated by Former Executive Councillor and Councillor LAHDC Tai Suru Aga Syed Abass Razvi in presence of Sarpanch Tai Suru Kaneez Fatima, Sapanch Kouchik Ghulam Abass and CDPO Parveen Akhtar besides ICDS Workers, beneficiaries and supervisor.
Razvi also flagged off two Poshan vahans which will sensitise the people of Tai Suru with the objectives of Poshan Maah.
The programme included a range of relevant topics aimed at sensitising the workers and beneficiaries about the aspects of the national nutrition mission and its importance. Various stalls by ICDS workers and helpers exhibited local traditional dishes like, Popot (Soaked wheat and peas prepared with goat or sheep head or leg), buck wheat cake, pancake made of barley sprouts, roasted wheat and barley, products made of milk, curd etc and papa, kholak and phey mar along with organic vegetables.
Appreciating the efforts of CDPO Tai Suru Parveen Akhtar for her out of box ideas to make people aware about the government schemes Syed Abass Razvi said that the objective of Poshan Abhiyan is to provide nutritious food to the mother and child and organizing such an important Poshan Mela with exhibition of local food items is the need for a place like Kargil where people remains cutoff for the six month of winter.
