9 More Covid-19 Deaths In J&K, Toll 692

12 Minors, 88 Travellers Among New Cases

Srinagar: At least nine more people succumbed to coronavirus infection in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the total number of fatalities due to the virus in Union Territory to 692.

Kashmir valley reported four new covid-19 deaths, while the remaining five were confirmed by officials from Jammu division, official sources said. Among the victims from Valley, two were residents of Budgam and one each from Kupwara and Srinagar.

A 41-year-old woman from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar died at SKIMS Soura, ten days after she was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, they said. “She was suffering from hypertension, hypothyroidism and bilateral community acquired pneumonia,” a doctor at SKIMS said, adding, “She died due to cardiac arrest at 9: 50 a.m. today.”

A 70-year-old resident of Khag Budgam who was diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes and bilateral CAP died due to cardiopulmonary arrest at 02:10 p.m., 18 days after being admitted to the tertiary care hospital, the doctor added.

A 65-year-old woman from Kanipora Budgam died 15 days after she was admitted to CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients here.

Officials from Kupwara district said that a 70-year-old resident of Tanghdar died at a Srinagar hospital late last night.

Sources said that five deaths were reported from Jammu division.

A 55-year-old woman from Bhaderwah died at Sub District hospital Bhaderwah where she was admitted on Saturday morning.

A 65-year-old woman from Kasblari Mankote died at hospital in Ludhiana, a senior health officer in Poonch said.

A 60-year-old man from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu died three days after he was admitted to GMC college Jammu, a senior doctor said.

He was suffering from hypertension, diabetes, CKD  and Altered Sensorium besides bilateral CAP, the doctor said. “He died at 8:30 a.m. today,” the doctor added.

A 55-year-old woman from Khour Pallanwalla died at GMC hospital Jammu this evening, a senior doctor said.

He said the woman was admitted on August 28 and was diagnosed with “hypertension and diabetes with fluid overload besides tested covid-19 positive”.

“The patient remained on oxygen since the time of admission till death (this evening),” the doctor said.

A 46-year-old woman from Chack Arnia also passed away at GMC hospital Jammu this evening, the doctor said.

He said the woman was admitted on August 29 and was diagnosed with “diabetes, hypertension “DKA PPTBY LRTI with covid-19 positive.

With these deaths, the fatality count in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 692—62 from Jammu and 630 from the Valley.

12 Minors, 88 Travellers Among New Cases

At least 12 minors and 88 travelers were among 546 new cases of coronavirus reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, raising the number of people infected by the virus across the Union Territory to 36377.

Kashmir valley reported 332 new cases of Covid-19, while the remaining 214 were confirmed by the officials from Jammu division, sources said.

Giving district wise breakup of the cases, they said Srinagar reported 102, taking its total count to 9025 while Baramulla reported 18, Pulwama 105, Budgam 36, Anantnag22, Bandipora 49, Kupwara 31, Kulgam 12, Shopian 12 and Ganderbal 28.

Similarly, they said, Jammu district reported 134 new cases, Rajouri 9, Kathua 19, Udhampur 18, Samba 8, Ramban 1, Doda 10, Poonch 11, Reasi 4 while no case was reported in Kishtwar.

Official sources said that 648 covid-19 patients were also discharged from various hospitals—119 from Jammu and 529 from Kashmir.  (With GNS inputs)
