Central Kashmir: Gunfight Breaks Out In Budgam Village

Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between state forces and militants in Pathanpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday, police said.

A cordon-and-search operation was launched in the Pathanpora area of Budgam on receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

He said the operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired upon a search party of the forces, who retaliated.

He said the exchange of firing was going on till last reports.
