South Kashmir: Gunfight Breaks Out In Shopian Village

Srinagar- A gunfight broke out between militants and state forces in Sugoo Hendhama area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, said police.

A joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Sugoo Hendhama today morning, said a police official.

He said as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.

The exchange of fire was going on till last reports.
