Srinagar- A 52-year old man from Sopore, who had tested positive for Covid-19, died at Srinagar hospital on Tuesday, taking the total fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir due to the disease to 47, officials said.
The man, an auto driver by profession, died at Srinagar’s Chest Diseases (CD) hospital on Tuesday early morning, said a family member.
The man was admitted to the SMHS hospital on May 19 after he met with an accident, he said.
He said the patient was shifted to CD hospital two days ago after he tested positive for coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo also confirmed the man’s death due to the virus. “He will be buried as per the covid-19 protocol,” he added.
With the latest fatalities, the death toll due to the virus in J&K has gone up to 47- 42 in Kashmir Valley and 5 in Jammu division.
So far Srinagar district with twelve deaths due to the virus has the highest fatalities, followed by nine in Baramulla, six in Anantnag, four each in Kulgam & Shopian, three in Kupwara &Jammu , two in Budgam while one death each has been reported in Bandipora, Pulwama, Doda & Udhampur.
