SRINAGAR – The incarcerated former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought Kashmir right to the doorstep of every Indian.

In an apparent reference to the protests triggered by the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president said on her Twitter handle that the demand of freedom is battle cry of every righteous Indian today. “Hum kya chahtey Azaadi- battlecry of every righteous Indian today,” she tweeted.

In her tweets, Mehbooba also said that citizens don’t need to visit Kashmir anymore to witness their subjugation.

“Fellow citizens don’t need to visit Kashmir anymore to witness subjugation. BJP has brought Kashmir right to the doorstep of every Indian,” she tweeted.

The official twitter handle of Mehbooba is currently being used by her daughter Iltija, who has been entitled by her mother to react on behalf of her.

The former chief minister is under detention since August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and split the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.

Mehbooba is among the mainstream leaders including the two other former chief ministers—Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah who have been kept under detention to maintain law and Order. Dr. Abdullah, however, has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
