SRINAGAR Police on Thursday recovered body of a local militant while apprehended another in an injured conditions in an orchard in Anantnag district, officials said on Thursday.
A police spokesman said that the body of the militant was recovered from the orchards in Bijbehara area of the south Kashmir district while another militant who was injured was arrested by a joint team of Police and security forces from the area.
The slain has been identified as Adil Dass from Waghama Bijbehara. After completion of all legal medico formalities, the body of the slain has been handed over to the family members for last rites, the spokesman said.
Sources said that the slain militant was earlier affiliated with LeT and later had joined ISJK.
News agency KNO quoting police reported that the slain ISJK militant was killed in a group clash with LeT militants as Adil had joined LeT last year and had recently switched sides to ISJK.
Moreover, they identified the injured militant as Arif Hussain Bhat of Fathepora Larkipora Anantnag. He has been taken into custody and admitted to hospital where he is being administered medical treatment, the spokesman said.
Police has registered a case in this regard. Further investigation in the matter is going on, he said.
Meanwhile, thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the slain who was later laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans.
