SRINAGAR — Authorities on Friday morning disallowed Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani to visit Urdu Book Fair currently underway at the University of Kashmir.

The police forces deployed outside Geelani’s residence at Hyderpora in uptown didn’t allow veteran separatist leader to move towards KU, reports said.

Notably, Geealni is under house detention since last several years.

Earlier, Geelani had on Thursday accepted the invitation from Kashmir University students for a function on the sidelines of Urdu Book Fair.

Earlier last year octogenarian leader had visited similar book fair at city’s SP College grounds.  He is an avid reader and has penned scores of books mostly related to his philosophy of resistance and the time spent in various jails.
