Pulwama Blast: Injured Soldier Dies, Toll Mounts To 2 


SRINAGAR  — The death toll in a car bomb blast in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Monday rose to two as one more soldier succumbed to his injuries at the army hospital here, officials said on Tuesday.

They said Sepoy Ajit Kumar Sahoo (14875410P) succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning, a day after Havildar Amarjeet Kumar (belt no. 14848200) died of the injuries. Twenty soldiers had injured at Aarihal Pulwama.

The militants blew up a car-laden with explosives around 6:00 pm on June 17, causing severe damage to 44 RR’s bulletproof vehicle, injuring 20 soldiers and two civilians who were working in their fields adjacent to the spot.

Police have taken samples of the car and investigations are underway to ascertain the owner of the vehicle and other connected links.

Army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia in a statement issued here confirmed death of two soldiers in the blast.

“Two soldiers brought to the hospital with severe contusions/concussions, have succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in 92 Base Hospital,” he said.
