Owner Of Car Used In Lethpora-Blast Among 2 Militants Killed In Bijbehara


SRINAGAR — One of the two militants killed in Marhama, Bijbehara area of Anantnag in south Kashmir has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat who was the owner of the car used in Lethpora attack in February 14 this year in which nearly 50 CRPF men were killed.

A police officer also confirmed that Sajad Bhat of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) was killed along with his associate in the operation.

Sajad alias Afzal Guru had joined JeM’s Fidayeen squad days before the Lethpora attack.

Sajad Bhat son of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat of Marhama Sangam was killed along with his associate Tawseef Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat both residents of Marhama village.

A soldier was killed and two others were injured in the gunfight.

Meanwhile, Army said that two slain militants were key players in suicide attack on CRPF near Lethpora Pulwama on February 14 this year. 

While one of them Sajad Maqbool Bhat alias Afzal Guru alias Hafiz had provided his vehicle for the blast another militant Tawseef Ahmad Bhat was his handler, General Officer Commanding of 15 Corps Lt Gen Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon was quoted by local news agency GNS as having said.

“Sajad was the one who managed the vehicle for Pulwama 14 February CRPF IED incident. Tawseef was his handler,” the GOC said.
