Peaceful Poll Conduct Another Challenge To Police: DGP

SRINAGAR — Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Wednesday termed conduct of “peaceful elections in the state” as yet another challenging task for J&K Police.

Addressing the officers and personnel at District Police Lines Sopore and Bandipora, Dilbag Singh however said the force was fully prepared to maintain law and order during the elections as “it has done recently by holding peaceful Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections in the state.”

 He said that various components under the command of officers have been formed for maintaining law & order during the elections.

The DGP interacted with the members of these components and emphasised upon the personnel to exhibit high standards of discipline in the field and work with dedication under the control of their respective commanders. He advised that coordination among the components and implementation of orders from team leaders is mandatory for the personnel in the field to get desired results. J&K Police has been working for the protection of people and every care should be taken for the security of the public, the DGP added during his interaction with the officers and the personnel.

He also sought to assure the people that all necessary efforts would be made to ensure a peaceful and secure atmosphere for them to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha polls.

The director general of state police gave the assurance after visiting Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir and reviewing the arrangements for the upcoming elections in the two districts.

The DGP yesterday interacted also with the police officers and personnel of the district police at police lines in Baramulla and Kupwara and emphasised upon them to get fully prepared for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections in the state.

“Our men are well trained and well equipped to face any challenge in the field. During the previous years, our personnel have gained much experience and expertise in different fields of policing and have made achievements on different fronts,” he said.

The J&K Police has ensured peaceful elections in the past and during the upcoming elections also, our forces will make all necessary efforts to ensure a a peaceful and secure atmosphere so that people could exercise their franchise without any fear, he said.
