ICDS Officials Accused Of ‘Manhandling’


SRINAGAR — Locals from Palapora Eidgah area here Tuesday alleged that they were manhandled by Deputy Director Integrated Child Development Project Scheme (ICDS) at Old Secretariat Srinagar when they went there to lodge a complaint against a lady officer.

A delegation from Palapora Eidgah told news agency CNS that they approached Deputy Director ICDS after Helpers and Workers from Eidgah Zone informed them that a lady officer who is CDPO Eidgah is forcing them to grease their palm either in cash or kind.

“To our shock, the Deputy Director lost her cool after we placed the written complaint at her table. The Deputy Director and some of her employees not only manhandled us but also showered choicest invectives,” they said.

They said that complaint was about CDPO Eidgah Zone who has been demanding bribe in cash and kind from the Helpers and when anyone refuses, she harasses her.

The delegation also shared a video showing how the Deputy Director along with employees manhandled complainants. “We appeal Governor administration to look into the matter and initiate action against the concerned official,” they said.
