The Governor’s administration has formed a high level committee to determine the scope and size of division level offices, their staffing and location for the newly constituted division for Ladakh region. Acting CEC LADC Kargil Nasir Munshi asked the district officers to abstain from duty and support the cause.

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah lashed out at the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir Governor S P Malik-led administration, saying the people were being "denied" their rightful share in the newly constituted Ladakh division.
Abdullah said the people of Kargil were "being punished only to pursue the agenda of divisive politics".
"All along, it was decided that the division headquarter will be positioned on a rotational basis between Leh and Kargil and all the departments to be divided equally between the two districts. But the incumbent government issuing an SRO in favour of only one district has severely dented the genuine aspirations of people in Kargil and adjoining areas," he said.

The Centre is "playing with fire" in Jammu and Kashmir by "implementing" BJP's agenda through Governor Satya Pal Malik, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti alleged Wednesday, accusing New Delhi of "trying to break the Muslim-majority character" of the state.
She alleged that the Central government, through the governor, is taking decisions which are against the people and the common sentiment of Jammu and Kashmir.
