Police Arrests Hurriyat Activist

SRINAGAR — Police has arrested a Hurriyat Conference (G) activ­ist in a late night raid at Kral­gund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police team on late Tues­day night arrested the Hurriyat (G) activist Mohammad Akram Nagar son of Abdul Gaffar dur­ing a raid at Kralgund, a local news agency reported.

A police officer said that Akram is an activist of Hurriyat (G) and was evading arrest since 2015. “He is involved in many violence-relat­ed incidents,” he said.

Many FIRs including 30/2015, 68/ 2016 and 69/2016 under sections 148, 149, 336, 307 and 427 RPC stand registered in po­lice station Kralgund against Akram, the officer said.
