SRINAGAR A Special Police Officer (SPO) of police was killed in firing by suspected militants at Hanjan area of south Kashmirs Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Official sources said that the gunmen fired upon the SPO Sameer Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohammad Mir at his home.

In the incident, Sameer, a resident of Hanjan Payeen village suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where he succumbed to injuries, they said.
A senior police officer said: Sameer was fired upon by the militants at his home. He was working as an SPO, he said.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile the wreath laying ceremony for the deceased was held at District Police Lines Pulwama,. Police officers led by SP Pulwama Chandan Kohli and other officers of CRPF and Army laid floral wreaths on the remains and paid rich tributes to the deceased SPO.
