Soldier Injured In Pulwama Gunfight Succumbs

SRINAGAR — A soldier was killed in a gunfight with the militants in Kharpora Sirnoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, the army said.

An army spokesman said that a soldier wounded in the gunfight earlier today has succumbed.

He said that three militants were killed in the gunfight that broke out after the forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area. “The operation is going on,” he said.

Seven civilians were killed after the forces opened fire on protesters near the site of the gunfight.
