3 Indian Soldiers Killed On LoC

JAMMU — Three army soldiers and two militants were killed Sunday in a gunfight along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

He said that Army in Sunderbani sector of the LoC in Rajouri district engaged a group of heavily armed militants in a fierce encounter in which three soldiers and two militants were killed.

“Another soldier suffered grievous injuries and has been airlifted to the Army Command hospital in Udhampur,” he said adding that the injured soldier’s condition is reported to be stable

He said the area near the encounter site was cordoned off and a “search-and-destroy” operation is in progress.
