PDD Lineman Dies Due To Electrocution In Budgam

SRINAGAR — A lineman of the Power Development Department (PDD) died of electrocution in Zogoo village of Khansahab in Budgam on Thursday.

A police official said that Bashir Ahmad Khan son of Gul Mohd Khan of Zogoo Kharian received an electric shock while repairing an electric transformer in Bhat Mohalla area of Zogoo this afternoon.

Khan was seriously injured due to electric shock, said the officer. He was immediately taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, said the officer.

Youth Slips To Death In Kupwara  

A 22-year-old boy died on Thursday morning after he slipped and rolled down into a deep gorge in Keran area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara.

A police official said that the youth Shakir Hussain Gojer son of Zakir Hussain Gojer of Kundian village was collecting grass for his cattle when he suddenly slipped and fell down into a gorge near Khoodia village along Line of Control (LoC).

 In the incident, the youth sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to sub-district hospital Kupwara in an unconscious state, the officer said. However, doctors present there declared him brought dead, he said.
