Aga Hasan Condemns Arrest of Masroor Abbas

SRINAGAR — Senior separatist leader and president of Anjuman Shari Shaiyan, Aga Syed Hasan, has termed the arrest of senior Hurriyat (M) leader Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari and his detention at Central Jail Srinagar as a part of “bigger operation” across Kashmir under which leaders are lodged in various jails.

“Lodging senior leaders like Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari in Central  jail is a highly undemocratic move as his confinement can further deteriorate his health as he is already suffering from various ailments,” he said.

The spokesman castigated authorities for “caging senior separatist leader.”  He also condemned the continuous detention of senior pro-freedom leader Shabir Ahmed Shah. Aga Hasan said that Shah’s health has deteriorated inside Tihar jail.

He said that under the guise of polls “entire Kashmir has been converted into a military fortress”  and “people irrespective of their age are being arrested and later slapped with public safety act (PSA) and then shifted outside the Valley to various Jammu jails.”

Aga Hasan condemned the action of AMU authorities against Kashmiri students. He said an offering funeral prayer in absentia is not a crime.
