India has once again chosen the path of denial by rejecting the talks with Pakistan. Prime Minister of Pakistan on the other hand has said that he is ready to discuss every irritant between two neighbours on a negotiating table.
India has always maintained that Pakistan is the safe heaven for terrorists. But, when new prime minister of Pakistan has openly stated that he is ready to discuss all issues, including terrorisms, Indian side should have reciprocated positively.
Situation does not seem to be getting any better despite the so called Operation All Out launched by Indian military to wipe off militants so what better time to negotiate and resolve issues and disputes amicably.
In the context of South Asia both these countries have a great scope to grow. But they can not achieve that if they are bogged down in conflict. Both need a peaceful atmosphere for economic prosperity.
This relationship based on hostility, hatred and ill will is not going to lead these countries anywhere. This approach has hurt the prospects of these countries. India has to accept Pakistans invitation for engaging in a sustainable dialogue to have some breakthrough. On this earth certain issues can only be solved through peace full means and sustainable dialogue.
Well, one can clearly see Indo-Pak relationship following the same beaten track. One of the premier examples of this is dastardly killing of an Indian soldier. These types of agonizing news will always hunt us, until and unless both countries take concrete peace building measures.
History is witness that both have fought wars in the past. What these wars have resulted into? No gain but only pain. Soldiers from both the sides are made the fodder to keep the flame of hostilities burning.
India must shun this obduracy in order to give peace a chance for the sake of its teeming millions who crave for a morsel of food. Lets not blame Pakistan this time around. What option they have but to oblige. Imran Khan has a clean slate and he extended hand of friendship which india rejected with contempt. Delhi cancelled talks on frivolous grounds just because the ruling party wants to keep their core constituency happy which benefits from Indo-Pak hostility. It is time for sanity to prevail over petty politics.
There was one more reason to have grabbed this moment. If the general perception being promoted in India is to be believed then Imran Khan is an Armys protege. That means you would have been talking to a person who has the mandate of Pak Army. We have seen in the past that talks have failed because of unwillingness of certain sections of people on both sides of the border in which Pakistan Army was first to be blamed. This moment provided the much needed backing to the peace process and it was apt to start it now. Unless, BJP doesnt shun electoral politics foreign policy shall always be the first causality. Hope good sense prevails and there is no further dent in the relationship and both sides use their good offices to resurrect this dialogue process in their national interest.
