SRINAGAR Pro-freedom slogans were raised by the protesters during a march called to support Article 35-A in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in Pir Panchal belt of Jammu division on Saturday.
Reports said that around 600 people took part in the protest march called by the local National Conference legislator Javed Rana.
While calling for retention of Article 35-A, the protesters raised pro-freedom slogans in the main town.
The Supreme Court is likely to hear a bunch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of Article 35-A on August 31.
Separatist groups in Kashmir have called for a two-day shutdown from August to protest the petitions challenging the legislator that gives special privileges to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
