SRINAGAR Three policemen including an officer were killed in three separate incidents in south Kashmir on Wednesday.
The first incident took place when Fayaz Ahmad Shah, an under training police constable, was shot when he was returning home after offering Eid prayers Awgam village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
Shah, 34, was working with the Jammu and Kashmir Police as a Special Police Officer and had been given an out-of-turn promotion and selected as a constable.
He was undergoing training at Talwara in Jammu region and had come home.
Another cop identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Shah was shot at in Louswani area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
In the evening, a police officer was shot dead by suspected militants in Larve village Pulwama district.
Reports said that some gunmen barged inside the residential house of the police officer of Inspector rank at Larve village and fired upon him.
In the incident, the officer suffered multiple bullet wounds and died instantly on the spot, they said.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Dar.
Dar was posted at District Police Lines (DPL) Budgam and was on leave on Eid eve.
A top police officer also confirmed the attack and said that militants are responsible for the killing.
He said that searches were launched in the village soon after the attack.
Meanwhile, wreath laying ceremony for the slain cops was held at district police lines Kulgam and Pulwama where police officers paid floral tributes.
