2 Militants, Army Soldier Killed In Sopore Gunfight

SRINAGAR — Two militants and a soldier were killed Friday in an encounter at Sopore area of Baramulla district of North Kashmir, a police official said.

The encounter began after the militants opened fire on government forces during a cordon and search operation in Dursoo village, the official said.

He said the search operation was launched after specific information was received about presence of militants in the area.

Director General of Police S P Vaid said the bodies of the two militants have been recovered.

An Army official said a soldier also died during the gunbattle.
