Corporal Punishment: Teacher Beats Student Black And Blue, Parents Aghast


SRINAGAR — In a clear disregard for the Supreme Court (SC) direc­tions banning corporal punish­ment to students the teachers and the management particularly in private schools continues to go by the age old practice.

A seventh class student, Houd Yousuf Wani, son of Suheel You­suf Wani of Kadi kadal, Srinagar studying at New R P School was al­legedly beaten by a Vice principal of school ruthlessly resulting in soft tissue injuries in his left arm.

Parents of the child while tak­ing to a local news agency said that their son fainted as soon as he reached home. “He was not in a position to speak a word”, they said adding that their son was punished for not completing homework.

However they added that, “We have already registered a com­plaint in Director School education yesterday. Director School assures that no such incident is going to happen in future. School authority also accept mistake and assure that they won’t repeat this in future.”

They said that their children are not ready to go school adding that it is really difficult to motivate them to go school again.

Meanwhile when contact New R.P School authority they said school authority will take action against the teacher and also as­sured that in future no such inci­dent will happen.
