SRINAGAR Professor Talat Ahmad has been appointed as new vice chancellor of Kashmir University and Manoj Dhar took over as the vice chancellor of Jammu University on Wednesday.
A senior professor of Jammu University confirmed that Prof Dhar took over as the VC of the varsity. Meanwhile informed sources at the Kashmir University confirmed the appointment of Prof Talat as the new VC.
Prof Talat has earlier served as the VC Kashmir University from 2012 to 2014. He was given a three-year extension, six months before the completion of his first term, but was soon appointed as the vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia for next five years. His term at the Jamia is ending in the middle of 2019.
The hunt for new KU Vice Chancellor began in October 2017 when the three-year tenure of incumbent vice chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi ended.
