Policeman Killed In Militant Attack On Highway

SRINAGAR — A policeman was killed and another injured in an attack by militants near Galander Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu highway succumbed to injuries.  Identified as Tanveer Ahmad, the police succumbed to injuries at army hospital at Srinagar.

Sources said that militants attacked the armed police’s party at Khandizaal area of Galander Pampore, resulting in injuries to two policemen who have been shifted to hospital. While one of them Tanveer Ahmad, who had suffered bullet injury on head, was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment, another one Mudasir Ahmad was admitted in SDH Pampore.  Meanwhile, sources said entire area was cordoned off and searches launched by police, CRPF and army. When this report was filed, no arrests were made or attackers traced.
