SRINAGAR Kashmir Journalists Association on Wednesday held an hour-long meeting with the Public Relations Officer of the Central Reserve Police Force at his office in Srinagar.
The motive of the meeting was to raise the issue of thrashing of journalists by CRPF personnel, in particular the recent thrashing of Kashmir Reader Correspondent Junaid Nabi Bazaz and freelance journalist Muheet Ul Islam on June 2.
Public Relations Officer Sanjay Sharma apologized on behalf of CRPF and said the force would issue an advisory to its soldiers so that no such incident occurs with journalists in future.
I will ask the IG to issue an advisory through the battalion commandants so that such incidents do not happen in future.
The delegation was led by Mir Farhat, Muhammad Raafi, Muhammad Mukarram, Junaid Rather and Junaid Bazaz.
