SRINAGAR The J&K High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to government on a fresh Public Safety Act against Muslim League leader Masarat Alam. Alam is presently lodged in Kotbalwal jail in Jammu under Public Safety Act (PSA).
The fresh orders, incidentally 37th in the series, were passed a Deputy Commissioner, official reports said.
Alam, general secretary of the Hurriyat Conference (HC), was arrested in 2014 few months after his release by the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led coalition PDP-BJP government.
However, he was re-arrested each time even though his arrest under PSA was quashed by courts.
Masrat was first arrested in 2010 when he was issuing protest calendars. He has been lodged in Kotbalwal Jail, Jammu since his arrest in 2014.
Since 1990 the state government has booked Alam in 35 times under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Alam was born in 1971 at Zaindar Mohalla, a mixed neighborhood of Muslims and Pandits, in Srinagar.
Bhat ran the 2010 agitation when the other top Hurriyat Conference and JKLF leaders were caged. The new age Hurriyat Conference leader, who was raised in riches, is an alumna of elite Tyndale Biscoe School in Srinagar.
