Ik baazu meri loot li aur ik baazu meri kaat di,
Daal ke woh khanjar seene mai gunehgaar mujhe thehra gaye.
Mera nafas mujh se cheen liya mera kalab mujh se door kiya,
Begunah hone ka hunar iss qadar humse mehroom huwa.
Bachpan mujh se naraaz huwa khilona mujh se rooth gaya,
Awaaz sunni na koyi bhi , mai paidayish se he pukarna bhool gaya.
On 10th of January 2018, The girl in a purple dress in a Kathua village was gang-raped during the course when she was trying to find her horses. The accused persons kidnapped, drugged, raped and murdered the blossoming flower. It is not a question of humanity alone, but it has turned to be an enigma for every human who is alive or dead. The notions of religion have become common in this contemporary world. The diagnostic and saffron media is trying to paint the old wall with the new notions. The image with ply cards ‘ I am Hindustan, and I am ashamed’ is itself a gimmick to build a new definition of ‘pseudo-intellectualism.
Irrespective of the very notion of this mutilated humanity, the innocence has been thwarted to the core. In last two weeks, more than 20 Kashmiris have been killed including some Kashmiri rebels, hundreds of youth are injured and the most important thing to note is- the students are on roads to protest against the subjugation of the state. Every Kashmiri is in enigmatic phase, where an individual is in dilemma – where to express the grief and sorrow.
The nationalism notions have overcoated every identity that it rooted the fear for justice to prevail.
People are coming forth to express their grief and concern about the sufferings which are politically motivated and fashioned in context of contemporary trends. The brutality in any occupational space can’t be predicted with the other normal nuisance. In reality, the atrocities are continuous in such spaces and in this case, as soon the atrocity took the nation-wide edge by labelling it ‘ another Nirbhaya of India’ or whatever notion they tagged to reflect the integrity with India maintains the prolonged ploy to deteriorate and dilute the decades of sufferings in Kashmir. The dispute of Kashmir is a political diaspora which needs to solve but why it gets in parallel with every atrocity of the state has its own history behind it.
History is itself an evidence that rape has been used as a ‘weapon war’ by the Indian military forces. And the irony is that everytime the military forces go unpunished.
On the night of October 10, 1992, Indian army soldiers raped probably nine women, including an 11- year old girl and a 60-year-old woman during a so-called search operation ( RAPE IN KASHMIR: a crime in war). There has been enough evidence to punish the guilty but every time justice was denied Noone knows about, and if they are aware they are silent. There are numbers of rape cases like in Haran town, Kunanashpora village, Shopian and many others which I might also not aware. Even when the Gujjar community has been affected by the sexual violence of security forces.
The Indian civil society or any other discipline society or Indian populace never break silence on these rapes. The continuous mutilation of souls in the valley turned the every individual vulnerable. No one is ready to believe that the Indian nation is accepting the pain of Kashmiris. The sentiments of freedom are alive till date and the utmost reason is the negligence for the pain and sufferings of Kashmir. Now, people come forward with the integrity notions and showing the concern for their own self-centric humanity. Are these girls not the daughters of the Indian nation? As per the reports of Asia watch & Physicians of Human rights ( Rape in Kashmir: A Crime in war) stated that: ‘ to our knowledge, the prosecution of two soldiers for the rape of Canadian tourist in October 1990is the only case of Criminal prosecution which Indian government has made public..”
The reality is whenever there has been a rape in Kashmir, if the accused are army men then it’s not an Indian daughter and neither they will discuss the integrity. The question is not about the nationwide is trending in support of such cases, but it is about the ploy in their support which includes integrity and concern and trying to isolate this with the other rapes in Kashmir. It should be seen in a larger view of Occupational subjugation and militarization in J&K, which retaliated the story itself how the communities (Gujjar and Bakarwal) who live on the periphery of Kashmir society are subjected to sexual violence and other vulnerabilities.
Last but not least I’m quoting my lines as;
” Lahu luhan ha jism mera, zakhm duedu ya awaaz du insaaf ki”
