Aga, Kumail, Shabib strike gold in respective categories


Srinagar—Syed Aga Ashted, Syed Kumail Madni and Shabib Rizvi won gold medals in advance, intermediate and basic ski courses respectively in a Skiing Championship held at Gulmarg.

According to the statement issued by Islamia College of Science and Commerce, its Physical Education Department organised the championship in association with Kashmir Ski Tours Gulmarag.

The ten-day course saw prominent international skier Arif Khan as the chief guest at the valedictory function. Khan shared his experiences of international competitions he participated in and congratulated the college administration for taking a unique initiative of organizing the ski course for its students.

 Dr Altaf ur Rehman Director Physical Education of the college assured the students on behalf of the college administration that more and more adventure activities will be organised in the days to come. Prof. Shameem Ahmed Shamim Convener College sports committee; Prof. Rafiq Ahmed and Prof. Tanvir Khan were also present on the occasion. They encouraged the students to keep participating in adventure activities which the college organizes throughout the year.

Mohammad Ibrahim and Basit Ahmed were also awarded silver and bronze medals for winning the second and third positions in the basic course.
