JammuMinister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that the government has decided to reintroduce board exams for class 11 from the current session. He also revealed that the education regulatory mechanism would be strengthened to keep check on the functioning of private educational institutions within Jammu and Kashmir and those offering courses for elsewhere in the country through advertisements.
The Minister for Education was interacting with the students through video conference here after launching the online Knowledge network hub of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) which will enable the students to accesses books and attend lecturers of subject experts of national repute with one click.
The education department will consolidate data about affiliation status and other documentary requirements of all educational institutions functioning in the state, while it will be made mandatory for the outside colleges, universities and any other professional institutions to register itself with the Education department before inviting admissions from the state
He said the need is felt to save children from falling in the trap of fraud institutions and to keep tab on the working of private schools affiliated with different boards. He said the department would send the list to the Central Board of School Education and other boards of those schools which have not renewed their affiliation. The department will conduct thorough scrutiny to assess the working of each school and its affiliation status the Minister asserted.
Congratulating JKBOSE for launching unique facility of Knowledge network hub, the Minister said that the government led by CM Mehbooba Mufti is determined to connect all the schools especially in far flung and remote areas with technology.
The Minister said that through the Knowledge network hub, the students of far flung areas can benefit from online e-books, lectures and with the experts of National and international repute.
Minister of State for Education, Tourism and Culture, Priya Sethi asked JKBOSE to strengthen the grievance redress mechanism for the convenience of the students. She called for addressing the grievances through single window system.
Earlier, Altaf Bukhari and Priya Sethi laid foundation of 3 storey Additional block with parking and canteen facilities within the JKBOSE premises.

50 Lecturers posted in Ladakh and Zone 3rd of Kashmir Division
In a significant development Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G. N. Itoo today on the directions of Minister for Education Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari issued orders for the posting of lecturers in Ladakh and Zone 3rd of the valley which includes places like Leh, Kargil, Machil, Tangdar, Gurez, Sultan Deki and other areas in the North and South areas of Kashmir falling in Zone 3rd. 50 lecturers have been posted in these areas encompassing different subjects like Sociology, History, Zoology, etc.
In the meantime DSEK also issued confirmation orders as Masters for the Incharge Masters who had been elevated in the year 2014. According to the order, 622 Incharge Masters have been confirmed as Masters. It is pertinent to mention here that these masters had appealed Minister for Education for their confirmation.
In order to ease the availability of Education facility for the students, Director School Education, Dr. Itoo today issued orders for extension in recognition of 21 private Schools of the valley. These include schools from Bandipora, Budgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kupwara, Srinagar and Ganderbal. Apart from this 5 Private Primary Schools got the orders for elevation to next level i.e. Middle level. These schools were from Budgam, Srinagar, Kulgam, Kupwara and Pulwama. According to the communication received by State Media Centre SIE Kashmir these 5 Institutions were upgraded vide order no. 207-DSEK, dated: 20-02-2018.
Quoting Minister for Education, Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo said that in the coming session the Department will make every possible effort to provide students best facilities for teaching learning process.
He added that the Department will very soon issue confirmation orders in favour of Non-teaching staff also. (KNS)
