JammuChief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that her government was working to facilitate industry and the trading community in the state, as Jammu and Kashmir was the first on many counts to incentivise business and industry.
Chairing the 7th Industrial Advisory Committee meeting here, the chief minister said that her government had taken many reformative steps to encourage and instill confidence in industry. She said it was the first among state governments to roll out incentives under GST and undertake major reforms in labour laws.
Deputy chief minister Dr. Nirmal Singh; minister for industries and commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga; minister for finance, Dr. Haseeb Drabu, and minister of state for industries and commerce, Asiea Naqash were present in the meeting.
Mehbooba Mufti called for the constitution of a committee headed by the chief secretary to follow the cases of payment of rent in respect of industrial units against which rent is due from the police and other security agencies. She asked the committee to conclude the process at the earliest.
During the meeting, the chief minister was briefed about many steps being taken by the government to ease business activity in the state including measures which have been flagged by industry representatives from time to time.
The meeting was informed that the process of providing round-the-clock power supply to Industrial Estates was underway with the laying of infrastructure, cables and transformers.
The chief minister was also told that on the suggestion of trade representatives, many items have been removed from the negative list of imports into the state.
On the occasion, the chief minister unveiled the latest issue of Sanat o Hirfat, a coffee table volume of the Industries Department detailing the facilities, incentives and opportunities in the field.
The principal secretary to the chief minister, Rohit Kansal, principal secretary, finance, Navin Choudhary, commissioner-secretary, industries and commerce, Shailendra Kumar, administrative secretaries of various other departments, representatives of trade and industry and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
